SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES
Because being a parent is hard work!
Home-Start offers a confidential volunteer home visiting service for families
going through stressful times. Volunteers offer regular support, friendship
and practical help to families with children under the age of five. Families
are also invited to attend the six family drop-ins, each holding a two
hour session weekly throughout the year, including school holidays. All
services are completely free.
Volunteer home visitors are always needed!
Home-Start is always looking for caring and committed individuals of all
ages and backgrounds to provide its unique and very special kind of home
visiting support to young families. Parenting experience, patience, understanding,
sense of humour, an ability to listen, a love of children and a few spare
hours a week are the only qualifications needed.
All volunteers receive full training, support and supervision in their home visiting role. Child care can be provided for the initial preparation course which is accredited. All out of pocket expenses are reimbursed. An enhanced disclosure through the Criminal Records Bureau will be requested.
