The Early Years Education part of the Barnsley Childminding Network as well as being approved by NCMA also undergoes additional assessment in order to accredit childminders on the Network to offer funded Early Years Education Places to the 3 and 4 year olds in their care. Since its original approval and accreditation in July 2002, 20 accredited childminders have offered Early years Education to 68 children, some of who would not have been able to access their Nursery Education elsewhere, due to family, health or additional needs.

All childminders on the Network are encouraged to purse continual professional development and 92% of childminders on the Network either hold or working towards a Level 3 qualification. The average number of hours of training accessed per year is around 32 hours per Network Childminder. This has greatly improved the sustainability of the childminders on the network with improved future job prospects.
